Reinterpreting the needs and wishes of a modern inhabitant, this apartment is perfectly adapted to a lifestyle that includes minimization of space and maximization of functionality. Robert Garneau of award winning design firm turned a pre-war studio apartment into a transformable habitable space beautifully dotted with colors and textures. The Transformer renovation project included adding sliding walls to create a versatile space, a walnut clad wall bed for that extra space necessary for yoga during the day or a custom-made modular sofa that transforms into a queen size bed. Spotted on , the transforming living space has many interesting details that describe it as versatile – the large sliding wall is either hiding the bedroom or hiding the library. It can even become the surface on which movies are projected. In this open/closed floor plan, the kitchen couldn’t strike the wrong note – the dining table converts to a countertop at the push of a button. Even the washroom wall opens to expose walnut clad laundry hampers and linen closets – how is that for versatility?
